WHAT ARE DIGITAL X-RAYS?
We typically take digital x-rays during annual exams to provide a more thorough view of your teeth and gums, allowing board-certified dentist Dr. Mohit Shardha to diagnose problems that aren't easily visible and to understand more about the health of the interior of your teeth, jaw, and gums. There are several dental and oral problems that can be diagnosed with digital x-rays, such as tooth decay, cavities, abscesses, cysts, impactions, and bone loss. When these conditions are identified in their early stages, they can be treated more efficiently with simpler, more effective treatment options instead of major surgery. WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM DIGITAL X-RAYS?
Typically, x-rays are taken as part of an annual dental exam. They may be used to aid in preventive measures or when you are experiencing dental issues of any kind and need a diagnosis. What to Expect
Usually done at the beginning of a dental cleaning or exam, digital x-rays usually take around 5 – 10 minutes to complete. Most patients get a series of x-rays to show all areas of the mouth. After they are taken, they will be uploaded to be viewed digitally by you and Dr. Shardha during your exam. He will determine if there are any abnormalities and then discuss your treatment options.
