WHAT ARE TOOTH EXTRACTIONS?
While board-certified dentist Dr. Mohit Shardha makes every attempt to rescue and maintain your natural teeth, there are instances where a tooth might need to be taken out. A simple extraction removes a tooth that's visible over the gumline. This is typically the approach used for a tooth that's damaged or decayed and cannot be repaired. A surgical extraction removes a tooth that has yet to erupt from the gums. Surgical extractions are frequently performed to remove impacted teeth, like wisdom teeth, that don't have sufficient room to fit into your mouth. Whatever the reason for getting an extraction at Zensmiles, our staff will give you the best care. Our Frisco, TX practice offers multiple sedation methods, like nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation, which means you can stay comfortable during your treatment. Tooth Extractions Reviews
"Dr.Sharda is awesome. Very nice and very clean offices. The staff is great, very friendly. I had to have an emergency tooth extraction while visiting from out of town and they got me in on a Saturday evening and I was out in no time. If I lived anywhere near Dallas I would definitely have him as my regular dentist. Thank you Dr. Sharda."- D.F. / Google / Apr 04, 2016
"Great office hours! Had a wisdom tooth removed that was broken and impacted. Quick and painless don't usually describe the dentist, but in this case both those words describe my experience!"- T.G. / Google / Apr 04, 2016
"Excellent Dental office. The ambience is super, soft background music that calms the nerves, clean and top of the line facilities. Karen at the front desk is very courteous and knowledgeable about the dental procedures, very helpful in scheduling appointments. She also helps me in billing and works well with my insurance. Dr Sharda is simply excellent. Very knowledgeable and personable. With a humane touch. Cool dude. Awesome pain management. I had two molar extractions, pocket preservation, five fillings under anesthesia. One deep cleaning. Haven't felt any pain yet. Currently wearing braces, invisalign, and looking forward to completing treatment. Great orthodontic work and teeth almost straight !!"- D.S. / Google / Apr 04, 2019
"I had been to Zensmiles for extracting my wisdom teeth. The staff at front desk were great to work with, facility was neat. The options ad procedure was explained very clearly. I chose to take local anaesthesia, this was provided to me without much pain. Dr Sharda made sure I was doing ok through out the process. The whole process was completed in less than 20 minutes, the tooth extraction was almost seemless. Customer service was great, the staff followed up on my pain levels and any questions on medications. Will definitely go here in case of any future need for dentist work."- S.L. / Google / Apr 04, 2016

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM TOOTH EXTRACTIONS?
If your tooth was broken or damaged by decay, Dr. Shardha will make every effort to fix it using a crown, dental bonding, or a filling. However, when a tooth is too far gone, it may need to be removed to keep the infection from spreading and to conserve the health of the rest of the teeth. You may also need an extraction to address your third molars, commonly called wisdom teeth, that grow around the ages of 17 – 25. In older kids, infant teeth that have not fallen out naturally may need to be pulled so that they do not obstruct the permanent teeth coming in. If you're getting orthodontics or considering Invisalign, you may require a simple extraction to make room for other teeth when they move into their proper positions.
What To Expect
Dental extractions are done in our office using local anesthesia to numb the area near the tooth being removed. A dual-trained anesthesiologist, Dr. Shardha can offer you additional sedation options to keep you calm and comfortable throughout the procedure and to help you not remember the procedure. Once you're ready, Dr. Shardha will begin the procedure. For a simple extraction, he will loosen the tooth with a special device before removing it. Meanwhile, a surgical extraction involves making incisions in your gums to access the impacted tooth. If necessary, the tooth may be broken into smaller pieces so it can be removed more easily. Once extracted, Dr. Shardha will close the incision.
